Up, down, and all around from 30 feet in the air!

Every Saturday in July and August (excluding July 4 and August 29) be inspired by what you’ll see from and on the High Line during Arty Hours. Kids and their caregivers are invited to take advantage of our unique view of the city and surrounding area and create art that is inspired by site-specific works from Panorama, a High Line Art group exhibition.

Arty Hours is a drop-in program (no RSVP required), and is open to kids ages 4+ accompanied by caregivers.

July 11: Freeze Frame
Capture a moment in time from 30 feet in the air. Inspired by Altar, by Kris Martin.

July 18: Words in the Air
Create a sculpture that makes words float in the air. Inspired by Physical Graffiti #1-3, by Damian Ortega.

July 25: How High, How Far
Invent a way to measure how things grow and change. Inspired by Untitled (All Branches are Firewood), by Gabriel Sierra.

August 1: Above and Upside Down
Make a sculpture that looks different from below. Inspired by Bouvetoya, by Katrin Sigurdardottir.

August 8: Zooming In
Create a model of a neighborhood by focusing on what makes it unique. Inspired by Little Manhattan New York, New York, by Yutaka Sone.

August 15: Memory Sculptures
Make a sculpture that reminds you of a special place. Inspired by Window, by Andro Wekua.

August 22: Unusual Landscapes
Challenge yourself to create a landscape using everyday materials. Inspired by My Mom Drinks Pepsi II, by Kaari Upson.

At each Arty Hour, young builders can create one-of-a-kind vehicles, forts, structures, and machines with the High Line Children’s Workyard Kit, a crate of kid-friendly planks, nuts, bolts, and other custom materials by industrial designer Cas Holman.

In the event of rain or lawn closure, Arty Hours will take place in the 14th Street Passage.

Pick up kid-friendly snacks to inspire creativity and learning. On the High Line between West 15th and West 16th Streets you will find tacos, gelato, ice pops, and more seasonal treats from our food vendors.
