It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the High Line. We’ve been so busy with recovery from Hurricane Sandy that we haven’t yet had a chance to share photos and stories from our favorite fall community event: Haunted High Line Halloween.

On Saturday, October 27, hundreds of families brought their Halloween spirit to the High Line for a spooky scavenger hunt, tasty treats, a dress-up photo booth, a pop-up pumpkin patch, face painting, live jazz and swing music, and more.

Over the course of September, our High Line Food vendors lent their talents to help us teach little ones about healthy eating during Play With Your Food, a free weekly drop-in program. Chefs from People’s Pops, LaNewyorkina, and Terroir participated, working with kids to craft culinary creations using fresh foods.

Honey Day at the High Line featured educational activities, honey tastings, and honey products for sale, all in celebration of the industrious honey bee. Photos (clockwise from right) by Liz Ligon, Jenna Saraco, and Melissa Mansur.

Friends of the High Line partnered with Brooklyn Grange Farm to bring in beekeepers from the five boroughs for the first-ever Honey Day at the High Line.

Yesterday, a full afternoon of activities included an extra-special Play With Your Food session with La Newyorkina, an educational beehive, special Honey Day-themed treats from High Line Food vendors, and honey tastings from beekeepers from the five boroughs.

On Sunday, April 22, we hosted the High Line’s first-ever Earth Day celebration to mark the end of Spring Cutback, our biggest horticultural task of the year, and the beginning of a busy spring season.

Join us for our first-ever Earth Day Celebration on the High Line on Sunday, April 22!

This full day of community festivities will mark the end of High Line Spring Cutback and the beginning of spring at the park.

Family Feather Flurry brought together nearly 40 children and their caregivers for a winter scavenger hunt on the High Line, followed by crafts and storytelling at Posman Books.

On Sunday, February 5, children and caregivers joined us for the Family Feather Flurry, a High Line Kids scavenger hunt that explored the High Line’s winter landscape from a bird’s perspective. Following clues about the High Line’s unique plants and flowers, families made their way toward West 16th Street. From there everyone headed to the program’s next stop, Posman Books in Chelsea Market, to decorate their bird puppets and listen to stories.
