Visit the High Line in December and you may be surprised to see two zebras peering out from a billboard at West 18th Street. This month, High Line Art presents a new HIGH LINE BILLBOARD commission, Untitled (zebras), by artist Paola Pivi.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the High Line. We’ve been so busy with recovery from Hurricane Sandy that we haven’t yet had a chance to share photos and stories from our favorite fall community event: Haunted High Line Halloween.

On Saturday, October 27, hundreds of families brought their Halloween spirit to the High Line for a spooky scavenger hunt, tasty treats, a dress-up photo booth, a pop-up pumpkin patch, face painting, live jazz and swing music, and more.

Join us after the jump for more photos and details about the event.

Over the course of September, our High Line Food vendors lent their talents to help us teach little ones about healthy eating during Play With Your Food, a free weekly drop-in program. Chefs from People’s Pops, LaNewyorkina, and Terroir participated, working with kids to craft culinary creations using fresh foods.

Join us after the jump for photos from the programs.

It’s officially fall in New York City!

With more than 1,500 contributors, the High Line Flickr Pool gathers some of the best photographs of the park. The images are displayed in a rotating gallery on our Web site, giving High Line fans from afar, or those stuck in the office, a great way to keep track of park life. On the blog, we like to recognize the talented photographers who share their unique perspectives of the park throughout the four seasons.

Now that temperatures are cooling and the first hints of fall color are appearing in the planting beds, it’s the perfect time to enjoy crisp evening walks, beautiful fall foliage, seasonal treats from our food vendors, new art commissions, and free public programs for the entire family.

Join us after the jump to see some of our favorite autumnal photos from years past and get a taste of what’s to come this fall.
