PS 11 CASA Garden Studio

In 2023, the High Line provided a class of 2nd and 3rd-grade students at PS 11 with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a sensory approach to art and learning. The High Line’s Garden Studio CASA class is a traveling arts and learning after-school program where students made artwork inspired by the High Line while exploring the public art and horticulture available on the High Line.

 

Teaching artist Julia Rooney guided students through a curriculum where they used traveling art kits to create while exploring the High Line on walking trips. The
the program culminated in an exhibition of student artwork on the park for families.
