As part of this year's Open House New York Weekend, we'll be staying open late — until 11:00 PM — on Friday, October 8, and Saturday, October 9. Created by a former Friends of the High Line volunteer, Open House New York arranges access to unique and inspiring places in the city that are usually closed to the public.
If you've only experienced the High Line during the day, we highly recommend stopping by this weekend. The park's grasses, plankings, and art deco railings all take on different textures, and Hervé Descotte's lighting design transforms the way it feels to travel through the park. It's also a great place to get a unique view of the city's lights.
As we've done in the past, we're also offering free guided walking tours of the High Line at the West Side Rail Yards. We released more than 700 tickets on Wednesday, September 29, which were reserved within hours. We apologize that we cannot accommodate all those who would like to attend. Due to safety concerns, Friends of the High Line, the City of New York, and the railroad that owns this section of the High Line can only allow a certain number on the structure at one time.
