Vox Populi: Decide Who Will #GetBusted on the High Line

#GetBusted ContestYou can nominate and vote for a person who you would like to see commemorated in a sculpture on the High Line.

How would you like to see a sculpture of your favorite person grace the High Line?

For thousands of years, people have been erecting monuments of public figures in parks. Isn’t it time that you had a say in who was up there?

As part of Busted, High Line Art’s group exhibition of ten sculptures, we will be commissioning and producing a new work of art chosen by you—the public.

Busted features sculptures that play with the tradition of urban monuments, and you are invited to get in on the fun. The group exhibition debuted on Friday, but one pedestal remains empty, and you can help us decide who gets commemorated. The final sculpture will be created once you’ve selected a muse. So who do you want to see #GetBusted? Nominate someone today.

Let us know who you think deserves to be the subject of our sculpture. In a hundred words or fewer, explain why your friend, family member, mentor, teacher, community leader, or hero—sung or unsung—should be celebrated on the High Line. We want to honor someone who inspires—a dynamic individual who has made a difference.

Read the contest rules.

After four weeks, we’ll choose five people from the names you’ve submitted, and ask you to vote for your favorite one. Popular vote will determine the sitter of our sculpture, which will be installed on the High Line for six months. So who do you want to see on the High Line? Nominate someone now.

Keep up with the contest by following our hashtag on Twitter and Tumblr.
