This week we celebrate another green New York City gem – Wave Hill.

Earlier this summer, our friends at Wave Hill invited High Line staff and Volunteer Photographers for a visit. Join us after the jump for more details and photos from our trip.

Wave Hill is a public garden and cultural center located on the rolling hills of a 28-acre former estate tucked away in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx. The sweeping property is home to carefully-tended gardens, greenhouses, trails, historic buildings, art exhibitions, and weekly public programs.

On the sun-soaked day of our visit, the gardens were abuzz with activity: a Tai chi session taking place in the comfort of some of the garden’s tall trees, visitors strolling the gardens and relaxing in chaises longues overlooking the Hudson River, and families listening to storytelling in one of the historic buildings. Cameras in-hand, and inspired by lush landscape, we worked to capture the beauty of this unique locale.
