Photo of the Week: The High Line After Dark

April 1 marked the beginning of the High Line's spring hours, with the park being open until 10:00 PM. The revised hours offer an opportunity to discover another side of the High Line.

The High Line and the surrounding cityscape take on a new personality after dark: lights flicker in buildings across the city, a steady stream of headlights and pedestrians floow through the streets, and subtle lighting in the park highlights some otherwise overlooked design features and dormant flowers and leaves waiting for the next day's sun. It can be a magical time.

This photo by High Line Photographer Andrew Frasz is one of my favorite nighttime shots. It was taken later in the season, looking east down West 15th Street.
