Photo of the Week: Hudson River Overlook

Photos by Stephanie Wilkins

The Hudson River Overlook, on the High Line between West 14th and West 15th Streets, is the perfect place to enjoy the end of a beautiful spring day.

In addition to boasting its own plantings – including the still-skeletal frames of sumac trees who've yet to leaf out for the year, pictured here silhouetted against a sunset this past week – this stretch of the park is home to one of our favorite weekly programs and the High Line's only wine bar.

Drop in on Tuesday evenings on the High Line at West 14th Street – weather permitting – to enjoy a session of Stargazing with the Amateur Astronomers Association. Armed with high-powered telescopes and an impressive knowledge of the nighttime sky, the Amateur Astronomers will let you take a peek through their lens and – most importantly – tell you about the sights you see.

A block north, at West 15th Street, is Terroir at The Porch, the only place on the High Line to imbibe crisp glasses of wine and refreshing cold beers. From Terroir's little perch over 10th Avenue, you can enjoy drinks and small plates while watching the setting sun – the perfect way to unwind with friends. This popular outpost of the summer months will be opening May 1.
