The United Nations designated 2017 as the Year of Sustainable Tourism. Each year, nearly 50 million people travel to New York City to experience the city's world-renowned arts and culture scene, diverse culinary offerings, and everything else that makes New York unique – including the High Line.
The High Line is a proud neighbor to some of the world's most outstanding organizations and businesses, who have made it their mission to have a positive social and environmental impact in the local community. The Standard, High Line, a long-standing partner to Friends of the High Line, is no exception to this work.
Recently, The Standard teamed up with Kind Traveler, a socially conscious hotel booking platform that allows guests to give $10 each night to the hotel's chosen local charity, or a global charity. In return, guests receive an exclusive discount for their stay.
We were thrilled to learn that The Standard, High Line chose Friends of the High Line as their charity of choice. We applaud Kind Traveler's work to empower people to be responsible travelers; 100 % of the donations raised by Kind Traveler are given directly to each participating charity.
Last Wednesday, Kind Traveler celebrated its first year in business. In the spirit of this occasion, we want to highlight Kind Traveler's efforts and thank them for partnering with Friends of the High Line and The Standard, High Line. By helping travelers and hotels create an impact on both a global and a local level, they are becoming a positive force for good.
