High Line Master Plan

In March 2004 Friends of the High Line (FHL) and the City of New York jointly began the process of selecting a design team to create a master plan for the High Line’s conversion to public open space. It is expected that a design team will be selected in Summer 2004. The team will include experts from the fields of architecture, landscape architecture, engineering, art, urban planning, horticulture, and numerous other relevant disciplines. Starting in Fall 2004 the selected team work begin working with active participation from the community and other affected stakeholders to develop a master plan that makes the most of the amazing opportunity offered by the High Line.

Four teams have been selected to create a master plan proposals for the High Line. One will be selected by the end of this summer to begin designing New York's most exciting new public open space. You can view the four finalist master plan proposals on the 4 Teams 4 Visions page.
