ART Programs: Specials II

Specials will be presented on the High Line in the 14th Street Passage (between 13th and 14th Streets) on Thursday, October 1st from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. It will feature artists who participated in the 1993 Whitney Biennial, including Janine Antoni, Byron Kim, Simon Leung, Glenn Ligon, Suzanne McClelland, Kiki Smith and Fred Wilson, and a spicy pumpkin taco.

Chefs Dinner to Benefit Friends of the High Line
On Sunday, October 4, Tom Colicchio, Chef/Owner of Craftsteak, will toast the unique vibrancy and creativity of the High Line by bringing together acclaimed chefs from restaurants along the High Line to present a special tasting dinner.On this festive evening, guests will enjoy dishes by chefs including Tom Colicchio of Craftsteak, Ralf Kuettel of Trestle on Tenth, Marc Meyer of Cookshop, Masaharu Morimoto of Morimoto, Dan Silverman of The Standard Grill, and Sue Torres of Sueños. And, for the first time, Mario Batali of Del Posto will offer a very special auction item to High Line supporters.

Astronomy on the High Line
This fall, join Friends of the High Line and the Amateur Astronomers Association (AAA) of New York for Astronomy on the High Line, each Tuesday at dusk, on the High Line. Come view the night sky using the AAA’s high-powered telescopes, and get a lesson from the experts on the celestial wonders of New York’s night sky.
Telescopes will be set up from dusk to 9:30 PM on the Sundeck, between 14th and 15th Streets on the High Line. This event will occur every Tuesday evening through the end of November. You do not need to RSVP for this event.
In the event of a cancellation due to weather, a notice will be posted on the AAA Web site by 12:00 PM that day.

Open House New York on the High Line: October 10 and 11
Friends of the High Line is proud to once again participate in the annual Open House New York weekend. This year, FHL will be hosting a series of lectures in the 14th Street passage on the High Line, featuring speakers involved in various aspects of the High Line’s planning, construction, and design.RSVP’s are not being accepted for this years OHNY weekend on the High Line. All lectures are first come first served. Please enter on the East side of the 14th Street passage, just South of the 14th Street stair on the High Line. Elevator access is available at 16th Street. Events will go on rain or shine.
