Toning up has never been this easy! Take this 45-minutes class on the Feldenkrais Method, an awareness-through-movement practice that integrates movement, breath, and vision to increase flexibility and coordination. Practicing the Feldenkrais Method promises to profoundly shape your body, empower your mind, and enlighten your spirit through focused and meaningful movement.

There is no class on July 13. Classes will resume on July 20.

Toning up has never been this easy! Build strength, flexibility, and endurance with this innovative 45-minute workout. Instructor Frederick Schjang combines Pilates, flexibility, and strength elements to create a total body experience.

EVERY TUESDAY: Stargazing with the Amateur Astronomers Association

Join Friends of the High Line and the Amateur Astronomers Association (AAA) of New York for Astronomy on the High Line, each Tuesday at dusk, on the High Line. View the stars using the AAA’s high-powered telescopes, and get a lesson from the experts on the celestial wonders of New York’s night sky.

Telescopes will be set up from dusk to 9:30 PM under the Standard Hotel on the High Line, located between Gansevoort and 14th Streets. This event will occur every Tuesday evening. In the event of rain, Stargazing will be cancelled. For updated information on weather related changes, visit www.aaa.org.

High Line Design Walking Tour with Peter Mullan

Join Peter Mullan, Friends of the High Line’s Vice President of Planning & Design on a walking tour and learn about the High Line's unique design elements.

Prior to joining Friends of the High Line, Peter was a designer and project manager at Polshek Partnership Architects, where he focused on master planning and museum projects for universities including the Yale University Art Gallery and the Yale Arts Area Master Plan and the Brooklyn Museum. Peter is Vice President of the Fine Arts Federation and a Trustee of the Greenwich Village Society of Historic Preservation, and was a member of the Save Gansevoort Market Task Force that was successful in creating the Gansevoort Market Historic District. He is a graduate of the Yale School of Architecture, where he was the recipient of the Alpha Rho Chi medal for Leadership, and of Princeton University.

High Line Art Walking Tour with Lauren Ross

Join Lauren Ross, Friends of the High Line’s Art Curator, on a walking tour highlighting the High Line’s distinctive public artworks.

Lauren has over fifteen years of experience in New York City as a curator, writer and nonprofit director. Before joining Friends of the High Line in May 2009, Lauren was Interim Curator of the Elizabeth A. Sackler Center for Feminist Art at the Brooklyn Museum. From 2001 to 2004, she served as Director/Chief Curator of White Columns, one of New York’s oldest and most highly respected alternative arts spaces. There she curated over one dozen group exhibitions and approximately 30 solo project room shows. Ms. Ross has contributed to exhibition catalogs published by White Columns, The Studio Museum in Harlem, and the Whitney Museum of American Art, as well as to such periodicals as Art in America, Art on Paper, and The Brooklyn Rail.

High Line Talks: Gardening in the Sky with Melissa Fisher

Melissa Fisher, Friends of the High Line’s Director of Horticulture & Park Operations discusses the original plans and concepts for the High Line's flora, and the unique challenges and successes of applying this distinctive planting design to the High Line.

Melissa was the first Friends of the High Line staff member to work directly on park operations and horticulture. Prior to joining Friends of the High Line, she was the Director of the Green Branches program at the Horticultural Society of New York. Melissa is a graduate of the New York Botanical Garden’s School of Professional Horticulture, and was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Tanzania, East Africa. Her interest in the connections between plants and people emerged during her time as an undergraduate working on Dartmouth College’s Organic Farm, and expanded to the urban realm during her time as Coordinator of the Austin Community Gardens in Austin, Texas.

Wild Wednesday #3: Bees, Butterflies, and Beetles: Bugs Rule the Line

Grab a magnifying glass and go on a bug hunt with High Line gardener Kyla Dippong. Release new helpful bugs right into the park, then make a butterfly sun catcher to take home. Wild Wednesday activities are designed for kids ages 5 and up and take place on the last Wednesday of every month.

Enjoy a Free, Guided Walking Tour with a High Line Docent

Walking tours are a great way to learn more about the High Line’s history, design, and distinct horticultural elements in an intimate setting.

High Line Docents are volunteers trained by Friends of the High Line staff on all aspects of the High Line. Every Saturday at 11:00 AM, a High Line Docent leads a free, guided walk through Section 1 for up to 20 people. Meet at the bottom of the Gansevoort Street stair. Space is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Reservations are not accepted.
