NYC Bike Share Demonstration under the High Line

Bicycling is a great way to get around and experience New York City in a whole new way. Join us to learn more about New York City’s Bike Share Program, and go for a spin on one of the demonstration bikes from bike share programs in cities around the world.

On Monday, September 14, 2011, the City of New York announced the selection of Alta Bicycle Share, Inc. to develop and operate a privately funded bike share system in New York City. The new system will launch in 2012 following an extensive public outreach process that gives community and business leaders an opportunity to participate in a public dialogue about where to site the approximately 600 bike share stations. In addition to bike share demonstrations like the one under the High Line, the City is holding a series of public community meetings and asking New Yorkers to help shape the bike share system by suggesting a station on its Web site.
