Film Screening: Strangers on a Train

EnlargeStrangers on a Train

Join Friends of the High Line for an open-air film screening glamorously playing homage to the industrial history of the High Line, which once carried freight trains delivering dairy, meat, produce, and other goods into the warehouses and factories on Manhattan’s West Side.

Strangers on a Train is a classic murder mystery once called a “first-rate thriller” by film critic Roger Ebert. Frustrated with his marriage, Farley Grainger plays a famous tennis player who makes a half-hearted arrangement with a strange fellow he encounters on a train—a disturbed man-child who takes his commitment to their deal to a deadly level. Strangers on a Train was directed by Alfred Hitchcock, and debuted in 1951.

The new short film, All Aboard! will be screened before and after the feature presentation.
