Earth Day Celebration

EnlargeHigh Line Earth Day Celebration

Celebrate the end of High Line Spring Cutback and the beginning of spring with a day of community festivities at the High Line.

Earth Day marks the end of High Line Spring Cutback, and the launch of the spring season of public programs at the park. Join us at the High Line for a day of fun activities for all ages. Below is a schedule for the day:

10:00 AM – 1:00 PM
High Line Art Performance
Take part in a fun, participatory art performance by Alison Knowles, who will toss a giant salad and serve it at a free communal meal on the High Line.

11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Gardeners Interactive Green-Up Info Station
Stop by to learn about urban composting and talk to the High Line Gardeners about the unique challenges of maintaining a park in the sky.

11:00 AM - 7:00 PM
High Line Field Station
Earth Day marks the debut of our High Line Field Station. Visit our mobile information cart, the High Line Field Station and meet one of our Greeters. Greeters are a group of committed, trained volunteers who answer questions and provide information about the park’s unique design, history, horticulture, art, and more.

11:00 AM
Volunteer Recognition Ceremony
Celebrate the dedicated volunteers who spent hundreds of hours cutting back last season’s grasses and perennials, and clearing the High Line’s planting beds to make room for new growth.

2:00 – 4:00 PM
High Line Kids: Earth Day in the Sky
Bring the kids to Earth Day in the Sky for music by the On the Lam Brass Band, wildflower seed ball-making, face painting, and the creation of a communal mural.
