High Line Live!: Step to the High Line Showcase
High Line Live!: Step to the High Line Showcase
On Saturday, join us for a stepping workshop followed by a showcase performance. Wednesday through Friday the preceding week, two teams will battle each other on the High Line each night.
Stepping is an energetic and precise form of group movement that uses a mixture of spoken word, footsteps, and handclaps to transform the participants’ bodies into rhythmic instruments. The history of stepping is rooted in the competitive schoolyard song and dance rituals of historically African American fraternities and sororities.
