High Line Movies: 80s New York: ‘Wild Style’

Join us for a film series that celebrates the 1980s in New York, an era when the High Line was overtaken by nature, and hip-hop, shoulder pads, and graffiti could be found on every corner.

Thursday, September 13 Wild Style (1983) Legendary graffiti artist Lee Quinones stars in this look at New York hip-hop music and street culture of the 1980s. A Q&A with Wild Style director Charlie Ahearn will follow the film screening. This movie is rated R.

Come early to view All Aboard!, the 30-minute film compilation of train moments through cinematic history which will be screened before each movie beginning at 6:30 PM.

Additional film screenings of High Line Movies: 80s New York include Muppets Take Manhattan on Thursday, September 6 and Working Girl on Thursday September 20.

This High Line Program is free and open to visitors of all ages. Parents and caregivers are advised that Wild Style is rated R and children under age 17 must be accompanied by an adult. No RSVP is required.
