High Line Art is pleased to present artist Mungo Thomson's Crickets, a chamber ensemble which will play a series of short musical interludes based on field recording of crickets, to celebrate the summer solstice on Friday, June 21, 2013.

Part of HIGH LINE ART PERFORMANCES, Thomson will restage his performance Crickets for the first time in New York City and in an outdoor setting. A music composition performed by a live orchestra consisting of violins, flutes, and percussion will mimic the sound of crickets based on field recording of ambient sound from different parks and forests from around the world. Crickets was first performed indoors in Los Angeles as part of the Pacific Standard Time Public Art and Performance Festival. High Line Art will stage Crickets outdoors in the park, as the artist had originally envisioned it, transforming the High Line into an open field and a stage resonating with the sounds of crickets in summer. Crickets is composed and conducted by Michael Webster.

Part of Make Music New York, in conjunction with High Line Art.
