Friends of the High Line is pleased to announce the hiring of our new Vice President of Horticulture and Park Operations, Patrick Cullina. Formerly Vice President of Horticulture and Science at Brooklyn Botanic Garden, Patrick brings us many years of experience in the nuances of running a park with complex horticultural and operational needs. His expertise will help to ensure that the High Line is well cared-for, and becomes a welcoming and well-loved public place for all its visitors.

Patrick's hiring is a major part of an exciting new step for Friends of the High Line: in the time leading up to our June opening, we will be working to build the High Line's maintenance and operations team. This will be our on-the-park staff, comprised of horticulture experts, gardeners, maintenance workers, custodians, and groundskeepers.

On Patrick's hiring, Friends of the High Line Co-Founder Robert Hammond said, "Not only is Pat a highly-regarded horticulturist who will help to establish the elevated landscape as a living composition that educates and inspires; he also has a profound understanding of the High Line's large-scale social, economic, and environmental impacts as a public green space. The High Line — its plants, people, design, and industrial legacy — will thrive under his leadership. We are thrilled he is joining us."

Parks Commissioner Adrian Benepe said, "We are pleased to have Patrick Cullina, formerly of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden, join the Friends of the High Line as Vice President of Horticulture and Operations. This unprecedented project requires the horticultural knowledge and keen attention to detail that Patrick brings to the position. Patrick's expertise, along with plantings selected by the High Line design team, will transform the High Line into a nature-lover's paradise."
