Closing Early July 4
Due to anticipated heavy event-related crowds in the neighborhood during the Hudson River fireworks, and space limitations on the High Line, the Police Department has asked that the park close at 3:00 PM on Saturday, July 4. Last entry to the park will be at 2:45 PM.Regular operating hours (7:00 AM - 10:00 PM) will resume on Sunday, July 5.Read More
Wood on the High Line
We have recently gotten a few inquiries regarding the wood used for the High Line's benches and decking. The Ipe wood used on the High Line was chosen for its longevity and durability, and taken from a managed forest certified by the Forest Stewardship Council, which is recognized for creating and enforcing the world's strongest standards for forest management. FSC membership requires conservation of biological diversity, water resouces, soils, and fragile ecosystems and landscapes to maintain the integrity of the forest and discourage exploitative deforestation.Read More

The High Line is now open! We hope you'll visit us in the coming days and weeks. Before you come to the High Line, there are a few things you should know:Location: The High Line is located on the West Side of Manhattan. The first section runs from Gansevoort Street, in the Meatpacking District, to West 20th Street, in Chelsea, between Tenth and Eleventh Avenues.
Getting There by Subway or Bus: A/C/E/L to 14th Street and 8th Avenue; M14 bus to 14th Street and 9th Avenue.

WE DID IT! HIGH LINE OPENS!
Earlier today we stood with Mayor Bloomberg, Speaker Quinn, Borough President Stringer, Congressman Nadler, and other leaders and supporters and cut the ribbon on the High Line, officially opening the first section to the public. This historic day is the culmination of ten years of advocacy, planning and construction, and we're so grateful to everyone who has helped make this opening possible.Read More
Section 1 of the High Line To Open Tuesday, June 9
After ten years of advocacy, planning, and construction, the High Line is opening. Section 1 of the High Line (from Gansevoort Street to 20th Street) will open Tuesday, June 9, offering visitors the chance to preview the park, which is still under construction. Friends of the High Line thanks all the community partners, donors, volunteers, members, elected officials, and other supporters who've made this historic day possible.
Please note that access to the High Line will be limited during June. To ensure public safety during the first days and weeks that the High Line is open, visitors on the High Line will flow from south to north. Please plan on entering the park at the Gansevoort Street access point, unless you are in need of an elevator. Elevator service is available at 16th Street, with another elevator opening in July at 14th Street. You may exit the park at any of the access points (Gansevoort, 14th, 16th, 18th and 20th Streets).
