Reception with photographer Shelley Seccombe
at the Westbeth Gallery. A long-time far West Side resident, Seccombe spent the late 1970s and early 1980s photographing the crumbling piers along the Hudson River and the characters who inhabited them. Her Lost Waterfront
show at Westbeth features over 100 of these photographs, a few of which feature the High Line. Seccombe will discuss her work and her experience in the neighborhood, focusing on changes in the area over the last 30 years. Presented in conjunction with Friends of Hudson River Park

's famous Bastille Day bash, also on Gansevoort Street.
Pétanque is a game originating in the south of France over a century ago. The aim is to toss metal balls called boules
as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonet
. Players take turns, and the team that places a boule
closest to the cochonet
