EnlargeRock Video: Cherry Blossom by (1986) Shigeko Kubota

Take advantage of the milder weather and view two new High Line Art programs on High Line Channels 14 and 22, at West 14th Street and West 22nd Street.

On Channel 14, A Tale of Two Islands features works by Beatrice Gibson with Alex Waterman, and Frank Heath. Each video in this program offers a portrait of an island located in New York City – the quietly residential Roosevelt Island and the unpopulated North Brother Island. Through May 7, the videos will play on a loop each evening from 4:00 PM until the park closes.

You'll have the chance to see cherry blossoms on the High Line this spring, with Shigeko Kubota's Rock Video: Cherry Blossom (1986) playing on Channel 22 every evening through April 20. In this mesmerizing video, Kubota – a prominent member of the international Fluxus art movement – layers shots of pale pink cherry blossoms against a bright blue sky.
