Tickets will be released on Tuesday, November 12, at 4:00 PM (EST) for December art walks of Carol Bove’s High Line Commission Caterpillar, a series of seven large-scale sculptures installed on the High Line at the Rail Yards.

Would you like to see an artist deep-fry a saxophone? Join Jamal Cyrus in the 14th Street Passage at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 16, for his performance Texas Fried Tenor (2012). Following Cyrus's dynamic soundscape, artist Benjamin Patterson will perform a new work, A Penny for Your Thoughts, at 2:45 PM. Patterson, a founding member of avant-garde artist group Fluxus, will offer participants newspaper hats in exchange for an idea, imbuing the performance with a sense of humor. Both performances are part of Performa 13.

In cooperation with the New York City Police Department and the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, the High Line will close at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 31, due to large crowds anticipated in Chelsea for Halloween. Regular park hours will resume on Friday, November 1.

Join us on Saturday, October 26, for our fourth-annual Haunted High Line Halloween!

Bring the whole family for an afternoon of trick-or-treating, art, music, and spooky fun. Sneak through a haunted train tunnel (if you dare!), get lost in a hay-bale maze, decorate pumpkins, pose for pictures in our dress-up photo booth, and so much more. Activities will be held from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at various locations on the High Line. See our event page for details.

We have exciting news to share with you. After completing an extensive search, it is our great pleasure to introduce Jenny Gersten, who will be joining Friends of the High Line as its Executive Director in January. Jenny will replace Robert Hammond, who earlier this year announced his plans to step down from the Executive Director position at the end of 2013. Joshua David will remain with Friends of the High Line as its President and will be working closely with Jenny in her role as Executive Director.

See new videos, presented by High Line Art, on Channels 14 and 22.

Solar, an exhibition in video format, will be on view on High Line Channel 14 in the 14th Street Passage from 5:00 to 10:00 PM through December 4, 2013. Featuring works by Rosa Barba, Neïl Beloufa, Camille Henrot, and Basim Magdy, Solar examines climate change science and artistic practice.This project is part of Marfa Dialogues / New York.

What happens when an artist rides a kayak on dry land? Find out with Roman Signer’s short film Kayak, playing on a loop on High Line Channel 22 at West 22nd Street from 6:30 to 10:00 PM through December 4, 2013. As the image at right indicates, Signer's quasi-scientific experiment piques the interest of local cows.
