Step to the High Line Begins Next Week

Join us as teens from around the city turn the High Line into their stage during Step to the High Line, a four-day festival of step performances celebrating the power and energy of our city's youth.

With the support of MetLife Foundation, we’ve invited some of the best student step teams to compete. Stop by to clap and cheer as Organized C.H.A.O.S. battles the Molloy Boys, the Bombay Steppers compete against Bishop Kearney, and the Lady Dragons take on Beacon’s Finest Ladies.

The festival culminates with a fun interactive step workshop led by Seye Charles and a showcase of all student teams plus No Mercy, a professional step team from New Jersey.

Now Open: New High Line Food Vendors and Terroir at The Porch

There are now more options for you to enjoy a snack or share a meal on the High Line.

Stop by the High Line at West 15th Street to try artisanal hot dogs from Bark, carnitas tacos from The Taco Truck, a signature kale salad from Northern Spy Food Company, or a veal ricotta meatball sub with locally-sourced wine from Terroir at The Porch.

The new vendors made their debut last week, adding new savory food offerings to the existing menu of coffee and sweets from Blue Bottle Coffee, L’Arte del Gelato, La Newyorkina, Melt Bakery, and People’s Pops.

On View: Maurizio Cattelan & Pierpaolo Ferrari for Toilet Paper

Visit the High Line this month to see the first large-scale public artwork in the world by Maurizio Cattelan and Pierpaolo Ferrari, the artists behind the photography magazine Toilet Paper.

Invited by High Line Art to present a work on HIGH LINE BILLBOARD, the large billboard next to the park at West 18th Street, the artists have selected an untitled image featuring ten fingers mysteriously popping out of the blue velvet background. The surreal image both celebrates and parodies the deceptive power of commercial photography, conjuring the dreamlike atmosphere seen in film noir.

The image made its debut last week and will remain on view until Friday, June 29, thanks to in-kind support from Edison Properties, the owner of the property on which the billboard sits.
