High Line Food RFP
On Friday, January 4, Friends of the High Line released a request for proposals for food on the High Line during the 2013 – 2016 season. Friends of the High Line seeks vendors of exceptional quality to serve interesting, sustainable, and affordable food on the High Line. There are three opportunities for sweet food kiosks and two savory kiosks within the Chelsea Market Passage, and two opportunities for mobile carts on the High Line.
Vendors must create food that is as thoughtful, creative, and interesting as the High Line itself and want to build a strong partnership with Friends of the High Line.
The food and beverage offerings will enhance the High Line experience, while drawing from the bounty of the region's sustainable farmers, ranchers, and purveyors. The food offerings, like the plantings on the Line itself, should reflect seasonality. Menus should be welcoming, interesting, and accessible, and should satisfy individuals visiting the park for a moment of quiet solitude, as well as groups of friends and families out to socialize and engage the city. Friends of the High Line aims for food and beverage on the High Line to be a model for public spaces by providing options that are interesting, high quality, sustainable, and fairly priced.
In 2012, the High Line welcomed more than 4.4 million visitors. Food and beverage also generate revenue that helps support the ongoing maintenance and operations of the High Line.
The Request for Proposals for the 2013 – 2016 season is due by 5:00 PM on Thursday, January 31, 2013.
