High Line Snow Volunteers [1]

It's all hands on deck when snow arrives in New York City, and we'd love your help!

Friends of the High Line staff members work diligently to clear snow [3] from the High Line, making the park safe for visitors to enjoy the unique winter landscape. To protect the park’s plants, we avoid the use of rock salt and chemical ice-melt products. Instead, we use shovels, hand-operated snow blowers, and push-behind snow brooms to remove snow and ice.

You’re invited to join our team of snow volunteers. All you need to do is dress warmly and get ready for some wintertime exercise.

Simply drop by the High Line Maintenance & Operations office, located at 511 West 20th Street, between 10th and 11th Avenues, between 8:00 and 11:30 AM. We’ll give you a shovel and pair you with a High Line staff member to clear snow for as little or as long as you like. If you plan to join us, you can sign-up in advance [4] to receive updates.

High Line Snow Volunteers must be at least 14 years old. Volunteers between the ages of 14 and 17 must be accompanied by a caregiver.
