When snow arrives in the area, Friends of the High Line works carefully to clean the snow from the High Line’s walkways and we'd love your help with this tremendous task.
Together, we’ll make the High Line safe for visitors and will open the park as soon as possible following snow storms. All you need to do is dress warmly and get ready for some wintertime exercise!
To protect the park’s plants, we use shovels, hand-operated snow blowers, and push-behind snow brooms to remove snow and ice and avoid the use of rock salt and chemical ice-melt products.
If you'd like to join us, meet us by the High Line entrance located at West 16th Street, near 10th Avenue, between 8:00 and 11:15 AM. We’ll give you a shovel and pair you with a High Line staff member to clear snow for as little or as long as you like. You can sign up in advance to receive updates.
Volunteers will be asked to sign a waiver and wear a High Line Volunteer ID. Volunteers must be at least 14 years old and must be accompanied by a caregiver if they are between the ages of 14 and 17.
