Jenny Gersten is a lifelong New Yorker who grew up just a few blocks east of the High Line.
As Executive Director of Friends of the High Line, she oversees the programming and the management of the organization.
Previously, Jenny served as Artistic Director of the Williamstown Theatre Festival, a nationally renowned summer theater in the Berkshire Hills of Massachusetts. She had the great fortune to be the Associate Producer of The Public Theater in New York City, where she worked on many productions downtown, on Broadway, and for Shakespeare in the Park. Earlier, Jenny was the Artistic Director of Naked Angels, a theater company founded in 1986 by a company of actors, writers, directors, designers, and producers.
Jenny was Director of Marketing and Development at The 52nd Street Project, a mentoring theater organization that brings inner-city youth from the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood together with professional theater artists to create original plays. She has taught producing at Williams College and NYU, and guest-lectured at Yale, Fordham, and Columbia. She rides a bicycle.
