Retail: Ports 1961 Coming to the Neighborhood [1]
Submitted by taraatthehighline on
Canadian boutique retailer Ports 1961 [3] is opening their US flagship store in the Meatpacking District (here [4].) If Racked [5] is correct, Ports' February opening may be delayed. There is a lot more high-end retail on its way to the neighborhood. From The New York Post [6]:
The final piece of the retail puzzle has been filled at Taconic Investment Partners' [7]401 W. 14th St. in the Meatpacking District. Italian fashion designer Moschino [8] has signed a lease for its first freestanding Manhattan boutique there, with 2,700 square feet tucked between the new, tri-level Apple [9] store at the Ninth Avenue corner and Hugo Boss's [10] store to the west...The store will open this spring.
We went to the Ports 1961 runway show-- after the jump.
On Monday, we saw Ports 1961's Fall 2008 collection at the Mercedes-Benz tent at Bryant Park. Our good friends Jacqueline Long and Tony Alcindor looked fabulous as they greeted people and tended to their guests. A crowd including actresses Mandy Moore, Rose McGowan, Eliza Dushku, Emily Deschanel and Sophia Bush watched the show, "Lassair," which was inspired by Gaelic mythology and the Scottish countryside.
