Warmer temperatures, rampant blooms, stargazing on Tuesdays, and the return of food – do you need more reasons to visit the High Line after dark?
After the never-ending winter and slow-to-come spring that New York City experienced, it’s obvious that five boroughs of citizens are dying to get outside. Stop by the High Line after work to enjoy some of the best the park has to offer.
Here are a few of the highlights of the High Line after dark:
- As pictured in High Line Photographer Gigi Alterjos’s beautiful nighttime shot of the Falcone Flyover, the park’s subtle lighting system creates a magical after-dark experience. Coupled with the lights of neighboring buildings and the steady flow of headlights and taillights along the streets, it’s a great time to photograph – or just enjoy – the setting.
- Did you know that many flowers close up after the sun dips? Observe our blooms at night while they get some much needed shut-eye – err, shut-petal. See May’s bloom guide .
- Every Tuesday evening, weather permitting, the High Line hosts astronomers from the Amateur Astronomers Association. Making out stars in the night sky can be tough in a big, bright city like New York, but with the aid of high-powered telescopes you can see planets, stars, and the moon .
- High Line Food has returned! Bring your friends for an after-work snack from one of our vendors , or unwind after a long week at Terroir at the Porch, which has just reopened for the season. Terroir boasts a variety of local beers and wines, sandwiches, and small plates. TGIF!
