Large Milkweed Bug

Oncopeltus fasciatus

Milkweed bugs never miss an opportunity to eat. They especially love munching milkweed, which in turn gives them a colorful coat to match fellow milkweed fans, the famous Monarch butterfly.

Adopt this bug for an optimist who views each opportunity as a delicious meal just around the corner.

Where to spot them on the High Line

Find them all autumn long on the many milkweed plants throughout the park. Look especially at the 10th Avenue Square, at 17th Street, or the Chelsea Grasslands, between 19th and 20th streets.
