Gabriel Kuri

Public Office

Gabriel Kuri (b. 1970, Mexico City, Mexico) lives and works in Brussels, Belgium and Los Angeles, California, United States. Public Office takes a simple office environment—two back-to-back desks, partitions, filing cabinets, shelves, a photocopier, a waste bin, and a water cooler—and covers it with a layer of black roofing roll, which weatherproofs the scene. The work suggests questions about the difference between public and private art.
