Park McArthur (b. 1984, Raleigh, North Carolina; lives in New York, New York)
This work is made of a large highway sign. The information displayed on the sign will be determined by identifying, with the New York City Department of Transportation, a highway sign within the five boroughs that needs updating and replacing. The re-fabricated sign will then be installed at its appropriate location following the close of the High Line Plinth commission exhibition. The procedural component of the work requires the securing of a private Hudson Yards apartment for the personal use of a friend of the artist for the duration of one year.
Major support for the High Line Plinth is provided by members of the High Line Plinth Committee and contemporary art leaders committed to realizing major commissions and engaging in the public success of the Plinth. Learn more about the High Line Plinth Committee.
