Teresita Fernández

Maelstrom

Teresita Fernández (b. 1968, Miami, Florida, United States) lives and works in Brooklyn, New York, United States. Maelstrom consists of three wind-battered palm trees cast in bronze. The work references increasingly ubiquitous tropical hurricanes and seeks to transform a banal image of the Caribbean into a more challenging and nuanced one.
