In partnership with the Office of the New York City Public Advocate, you will hear from community members about the issues in this election season that are most pressing for those who live and work in Chelsea and on the West Side of Manhattan. The Chelsea and West Side Ranked Choice Voting Community Forum provides an opportunity for the High Line and the Office of the New York City Public Advocate to bring together community voices around important civic issues. Ranked Choice Voting is an initiative aimed to ensure elections are fair for all voters by allowing you the option to rank candidates in order of preference. This forum will provide educational information on Ranked Choice Voting and all the knowledge needed to mark your ballot in the upcoming NYC primary.

In New York City, a primary election will be held in June and New Yorkers will be able to rank their choices for the following municipal offices: Mayor, Public Advocate, Comptroller, Borough President, and City Council.

The program will also include a conversation with Chelsea/West Side community members Carmen Matias (High Line volunteer), Hyisheem Shabazz Calier (High Line Neighbors Council), and Thalia Markowski (High Line Teens staff), and a Ranked Choice Voting simulation.
