The Interim Walkway section at the Western Rail Yards, between 30th and 34th Streets and 11th and 12th Avenues, is temporarily closed for restoration work on the pathway and seating along with the introduction of lighting.
The Rail Yards showcase the self-seeded landscape that motivated people like you to save the abandoned rail structure 25 years ago when it was under threat of demolition; the same wild landscape that later inspired Field Operations, Diller Scofidio + Renfro, and Piet Oudolf’s designs for the park’s naturalistic gardens. Insider tip: You can also head here for the best views of the sunset over the Hudson River and a unique view into the heart of Manhattan.
