Location
Dr. Gertrude B. Kelly Playground (at 17th St. between 8th Ave. and 9th Ave.)

Join us for District 3’s Participatory Budgeting Fest & learn about voting on neighborhood improvement projects!

Open to all ages from any district throughout NYC

Free – No RSVP Required

New Yorkers have the power to democratically vote for how to spend City money on neighborhood improvement projects. Join us for yummy Caribbean treats by Woke Foods, pizza, tunes by DJ Flip Bundlez, art-making by six different artists, wellness goodies by Earth Mother Medicine, double dutch lessons by Double Dutch Empire, salsa lessons by Balmir Dance Studios and voting, hosted in partnership with New York City Council Speaker Corey Johnson.

Participatory Budgeting (PB) is a democratic process that puts power directly in community members’ hands—you vote for how public dollars are spent. District 3 residents will cast votes, but we welcome all to come and enjoy the festival’s activities. Learn more at council.nyc.gov/pb.

ROOTS IN A MODERN TIME
What does it mean for us to get back to the root? What does developing a filtration system look like in the time of filtered pictures and altered experiences? Exploring these questions with art and herbs, collaborators will discern how to grow Roots in a Modern Time so that they can cultivate their own self-care practices that nourish them for the long haul. Participants will dive in through custom journaling prompts, sharing knowledge on herbal medicine and art therapy. Conjured by Veronica Agard, Vera Icon LLC and Earth Mother Medicine.
