Presented by Friends of the High Line with support from The Seed Fund, this video features an hour-long presentation and discussion of plans to turn the Reading Viaduct, a 4.7-mile-long former railway traveling through Philadelphia, into public open space. This program is part of Beyond the High Line, an ongoing series of free talks to educate and inspire conversation about the transformation of the country’s out-of-use industrial infrastructure into public open space.
In this video, Paul Levy, of Center City District, presents plans for his business improvement district’s vision of a Philadelphia destination centered around a transformed Reading Viaduct and Leah Murphy, of Interface Studio, speaks on behalf of Friends of the Rail Park, an advocacy group that seeks to preserve the viaduct’s historical industrial character and existing self-seeded landscape.
