West Side Fest

The High Line is thrilled to join the West Side Cultural Network—a group of more than 20 museums, parks, performing arts centers, and cultural institutions located within a half-mile portion of historic New York—to announce the return of West Side Fest from July 12 – 14, 2024. Now extended to three days of festivities, the second annual West Side Fest will offer free admission, special indoor and outdoor programming, crafts for kids and families, artmaking for all ages, performances, and much more. New Yorkers and visitors of all ages are invited to celebrate the vibrant, exciting cultural village along the waterfront of Manhattan’s west side!

West Side Fest highlights the city’s newest cultural destination on the western edge of Manhattan, a historic area with a welcoming and unique mix of fresh activities, open gathering spaces, and more. The neighborhood includes organizations that have been on the West Side for decades as well as newer arrivals like Gansevoort Peninsula in Hudson River Park. West Side Fest is conveniently accessible by subway, bus, the High Line, bike, or car. While many organizations are offering free admission to programs and events, advance registration may be required.

The Death Avenue Posse

Sunday, July 14 | 5:30 – 6:30pm & 7 – 8pm
On the High Line Spur at 30th Street
Experience the vibrant tapestry of New York City with The Motor Company! Since 2011, they’ve been bringing original plays to life in public spaces across Manhattan, Queens, and Brooklyn, from community gardens to bars and even canoeing in Newtown Creek. Their performances reflect the essence of each neighborhood, weaving together history, local concerns, and community voices to create unforgettable shows.

Hosted on the High Line, The Motor Company will present The Death Avenue Posse. All about mounted signalmen, the Elevated Line, and NYC’s continual cycles of urban decadence and “renewal,” The Death Avenue Posse peels up layers of modernity to show that the past is never past and explores how we can build a future for all New Yorkers. Award-winning playwright Ben Holbrook, alongside director Caitlin Wells, will guide audiences through the linear narrative of the High Line, uncovering hidden stories and celebrating the city’s resilience.

RSVP

In the case of inclement weather, wellness programs will still take place at the High Line’s covered 14th Street Passage. Family Art Moment: Dream Wilder with Us will be canceled, and The Death Avenue Posse will be rescheduled for July 17 at 5:30pm and 7pm.
