Drawing from fireside storytelling, Chinese opera, and shadow puppetry, MOONCAKE COLLECTIVE presents Twice the Moon, a site specific performance. Attend this intimate, transformative experience of tender resistance and rebellion.
Through their friendship, Bex Kwan and Sophia Mak unearth contradictions in their relationship to family mythologies, histories of foreignness, and kinship as queer Chinese people in the United States.
Now in its fourth year, Out of Line presents a new set of arresting, intriguing, and playful performances by some of New York City’s most exciting contemporary artists.
ABOUT MOONCAKE COLLECTIVE:
Mooncake Collective is a new experimental art collaboration between queer Chinese artists, cultural workers, organizers, and educators. Bringing their experiences from divergent disciplines and media, they seek to create innovative work that breaks conventions of form in order to crack open untold stories from their community. Mooncake Collective has received support from the Brooklyn Arts Exchange (BAX) Fall Space Grant 2018, BAX Upstart Program 2018, BRIClab 2019, and has been featured at the Trans Theatre Festival 2018.
Major support for High Line Programs is provided by The Brown Foundation, Inc. of Houston.
High Line Art, Programs, and accessibility are made possible, in part, with public funds from the New York City Council, under the leadership of Speaker Corey Johnson.
