Safe Assist

Jessica Stockholder (b. 1959, Seattle, Washington, United States) lives and works in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Safe Assist is a continuation of Stockholder’s ongoing Assists series—sculptures that cannot stand on their own and instead depend on another object, chosen by the owner, curator, or artist exhibiting them. The work is made from a safe placed atop the Plinth, and rolled and painted metal sheets and flattened car doors bearing iconic NYC logos.
